Natural flavours from the fields to the table
Farmers are one of the most important parties in the Päijät-Häme Grain Cluster, as they provide the products that make it possible to run the industry of grain processing in the area. Involving farmers in the cluster is crucially important for interaction and defining common goals. The Grain Cluster aims to develop new ways of co-operation and interaction between companies and primary production and to support the availability of local raw materials. The Grain Club is a forum for discussion and co-operation within the cluster and its members include local farmers, MTK Häme and representatives of the grain industry.
The companies that process the grains of the Grain Cluster, Fazer Mills, Viking Malt and Vääksyn Mylly, arrange seminars for the farmers on a regular basis. In these events, it is possible to meet with other farmers and industry representatives in the area and gain current information about the cultivation of grain and the views of processors.
Fazer, for example, is supporting the regenerative agriculture training designed for Finnish farmers. The results of regenerative agriculture methods are apparent in productivity, environmental impacts, water conservation and improved biodiversity. The free “regenerative agriculture” online training designed for farmers is a project based on the Baltic Sea Action Group’s Carbon Action programme.
