Primary production

The efforts of local farmers are apparent in the delicious final products taken from the shelves of stores to home. The grains processed from the fields to the table are cultivated by about 800 grain producers in Päijät-Häme.

Natural flavours from the fields to the table

Farmers are one of the most important parties in the Päijät-Häme Grain Cluster, as they provide the products that make it possible to run the industry of grain processing in the area. Involving farmers in the cluster is crucially important for interaction and defining common goals. The Grain Cluster aims to develop new ways of co-operation and interaction between companies and primary production and to support the availability of local raw materials. The Grain Club is a forum for discussion and co-operation within the cluster and its members include local farmers, MTK Häme and representatives of the grain industry.

“From the perspective of rural livelihoods, it is extremely important that the Lahti region has major players such as Fazer, Viking malt and Vääksyn Mylly. At the Grain Club, buyers and producers sit at the same table and work together to find the best possible way to succeed in each situation.”
