Boreal Kasvinjalostus Oy

Boreal Plant Breeding Ltd is a pioneer in Finnish plant breeding, developing field crop varieties adapted to northern conditions in close cooperation with farmers, the seed trade, and industry. The company breeds, among others, barley, oats, wheat, rye, forage grasses, oilseed rape, peas, and faba beans to improve farming profitability and meet industrial quality requirements, and is a member of the Päijät‑Häme Grain Cluster, strengthening research, product development, and sustainable cultivation practices across the entire grain value chain.

Ant Brew Oy

Ant Brew Oy continues the brewing traditions of the Lahti region, operating in the Mallasjuoma property that is over a hundred years old. The combination of traditions and modern brewing technology enables the production of high-quality and fresh beers.

Ant Brew’s brewery produces beer for its own pub, for retail sale, and for the local area. The company’s equipment, process, and recipes ensure the quality and freshness of the beers. Ant Brew’s pub offers ten different draft beers from both the company’s own productions and other manufacturers. The pub has preserved the surfaces and color scheme of the premises as original as possible, respecting the previous brewing activity of the space.

Fazer Mills

Fazer has been an integral part of Lahti for over 60 years and currently employs more than 700 people in the Lahti region. Fazer Mill in Lahti is one of the most significant mills in the Nordic countries and represents top-level professional expertise in Finland. The mill’s extensive product range includes flours, mixes, bread improvers, oat products, specialty products, and consumer goods. Production of oat specialty products—oat beta‑glucan and oat protein—began in 2015, and investments in oat milling capacity have been made in phases, with the most recent expansion completed in 2021.

Fazer Bakery

Fazer Bakeries develops and produces a wide range of rye breads and bakery products, closely monitoring consumer taste preferences. Lahti serves as Fazer’s rye competence center, where the iconic Oululainen Jälkiuunileipä (traditional oven-baked rye bread) has been baked for nearly 75 years.

Following the acquisition of Vuohelan Herkku’s bakery and mill operations, Fazer has also become one of Finland’s leading producers of gluten‑free bakery products.

Hartwall

Hartwall is one of Finland’s largest beverage producers, with a mission to refresh Finland. The company’s soft drink factory and brewery are located in Lahti, where products such as Aura, Lahden Erikois, Lapin Kulta, and Mattsson beers are produced, along with waters, soft drinks, ciders, and long drinks. Hartwall’s roots date back to 1836, and approximately 90% of the barley used in brewing is sourced within a 100‑kilometer radius of Lahti.

Hollolan Hirvi

In the Kankaantaka Vainio village community in Hollola, just ten minutes from the center of Lahti, there is a made‑to‑order farm restaurant hosting memorable and experiential celebrations in a historic setting. Adjacent to the restaurant, a farm brewery revives traditional rural beer styles and produces, among others, Hollolan Hirvi’s Kivisahti, brewed using an ancient stone‑heating method.

Kinnarin Tila

At Kinnari Farm in Hollola, oats have been cultivated on the fertile fields of Päijät‑Häme since 1667. The farm’s products are widely sold through S Group and K Group retail stores, as well as at the farm’s own shop in Hollola. At the Okeroisten Mill in Lahti, owned by Kinnari Farm, a range of wheat, barley, and rye products are milled.

Lammin Sahti

As the first Finnish microbrewery, Lammin Sahti has been preserving Finland’s national brewing heritage since the beginning of its operations in 1985. What started with a turnover of a few hundred thousand Finnish marks has grown to over €2 million, and over the past 35 years more than one million liters of sahti have been produced for sale. Production capacity has increased from 50 liters to over 1,300 liters today.

Pekan Leipä Oy

Pekan Leipä is a bakery based in Heinola, founded in 1964, where traditional bread and pastry recipes are combined with modern flavors. At its bakeries on Villenkatu and Reumantie in Heinola, products are crafted with professional skill using modern methods while respecting artisanal traditions.

Since 2003, Pekan Leipä has also exported organic bread to Germany, with export operations now based at a separate organic bakery on Reumantie in Heinola.

Pulla-Pojat

The family-owned bakery Pulla‑Pojat has been offering Finnish bakery products since 1957. Based in Salpakangas, Hollola, the bakery produces both ready-made and made-to-order products, including breads, sweet pastries, and confectionery items.

Circular economy principles are also part of everyday operations: for example, surplus barley malt mash from a local microbrewery is used as an ingredient in Pulla‑Pojat’s flavorful rye loaf.
